"Toad in My Yard", 10"x14", oil on canvas board, $350.
I have always had a strong attraction for reptiles and amphibians. So much so that I would have--and still do sometimes-- recurring dreams about discovering a place in the woods where there was a stream full of frogs and turtles, tortoises and toads would be in the surrounding area. I couldn't have been more than three years old when these dreams started.
The toad above was in my side yard this past spring. She's been around here for years. I love the blade of grass in her mouth. She must have just eaten a tasty worm and the grass was included. Good girl for eating her veg. The painting took a long time to complete. The bumps with all of their variations, required time for me to describe accurately, which was tedious, but very therapeutic. Eric Satie playing in the background set the mood, enabling me to patiently and peacefully enjoy the rendering of each wart.
I know, it's weird.
My youngest child Danny, became engaged to Torri Gallagher. Their wedding will be this fall. Naturally we're super excited for them. Torri is a wonderful woman and we love her.
I have more paintings to show you from that last time I posted, but Jay is waiting for me. We're heading out to Doylestown to the Michener Museum. Talk with you later.
